Dangote’s Refinery Nears Completion, Check Out More Pictures From The Refining Facility

The contractor handling Dangote’s oil and gas refinery in Ibeju lekki, Lagos State, Nigeria is working hard to ensure that project meets its specification and deadline, though, the impact of coronavirus pandemic disrupted activities, which forced to the company to reduce their workers with a view to complying with COVID-19 rules and guidelines.

 

The project was slated for completion and equally commence production in 2016 but was postponed to 2019 ending, due to relocation.

According to a reliable source, the slow pace of work in the refinery would be attributed to inefficient Lagos ports, which has made the importation of steel very difficult.

On the completion, the oil and gas refining facility is likely to end the importation of refined crude oil, it will equally cart for local needs, including the export of surplus refined petroleum products.

Currently, Nigeria lacks the capacity to refine the liquid black gold into a finished product, because all the three major refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna are all in comatose. Aliko Dangote’s oil and gas refinery has been said to be the largest refining facility in Africa.
